I'm flirting with the idea of buying a 7 seat Caravell and a concern is the 2 point lap straps fitted to all the rear seats as I have young shildren and their seats to in.
Has any one else done the same or similar and encountered and problems or good fortune.
Is there a conversion availble or is it a question of 5 new seat belts and having a garage fit them correctly.

Good thing about the Caravelle is all the fixings are there for at least two 3-point belts

Real caravelle rear seat belts did come on 3 point for the 2 outer seats, but IIRC were an option.. these need to be exceedingly long to reach the mounting points and as far as I am aware they are not available..
I found some "universal" ones that were adjustable for angle of mounting that reached the C piller mounting points.., the prev owner had mounted std 3 point belts in various positions quite well in most cases but badly in others where they had used no spreader plates at all.. in my 8 seat caravelle I have only 1 lap belt, on the folding seat..
I dont think I have any pics at the mo.. and the vehicle is a long way away..

The genuine belts are still available either from VW or from classicparts through me or direct

these will mate with the short part of the already fitted lap belts 253 857 749 D or you can buy new ones of those for about £20 each
