Carburettor advice

Post by mark1967 »

Van was originally fitted with a 1.9 DG,at some point someone has put a DF engine in  but has kept the Pierburg carb. Its got a few faults that I`ve found,it won`t idle, the pull down unit doesnt seem to be working and the secondary throttle diaphragm ( opens the 2nd barrel on the carb) although moving isnt working the butterfly. I think its just generally worn out.Would like to have it refurbed but don`t have the £170 to get it done yet.Leaves me with the option of another used carb which could possibly be as bad/worse.Would I be better off (if going for second hand) looking for a pict 34 and manifold or are these carbs just as bad?

By the sound of things you know what to look out for when searching for a good second hand carb....If funds won't allow you to have yours re furbed, then this is your only option.
