Hi there everyone, I need to buy and have fitted a new engine for my 1989 WATER COOLED TURBO DIESEL 1600 CC T25. Can anyone recommend anywhere in the London area?
Thanks folks.

Re: New Engine for T25
What Kev is saying is you can no longer get these lumps new but many go down the route of buying a donor car with a suitable working engine to transplant.
The magic engine letters ideally want to be AAZ, this is considered to be the easiest and best 'upgrade' 1.6TD to 1.9TD, giving extra torque and general drivability without any extra fuel. These conversions do however require one or two modified parts but are considered the best route.
On the other hand you may want to stay stock and have your engine overhauled and rebuilt.....there are several companies that specialize and are prefered to work on our older VW lumps......someone will be along shortly to add some contacts/names etc

Thanks Martin, very kind of you to get back to me. I'm gonna start ringing a few places today, got numbers for a couple of garages in Kent that appear to do re-conditioning.

Try AW Engineering. they supply a lot of engines for garages to fit from their Darwen Base, we have had good service on the 2 we had from them. Get a reliable garage down your way to fit for you. vwenginerecon.co.uk

Remember one thing if a company seems to much cheaper than all the others, ask your self why?
I was caught out, and after less than 5000 miles my recon was scrap, the guys who did the work seemed great at the time, but in reality all they do is clean up a few bits, swap a few bits from other spare engines that might just be within tolorance and put an engine together with fresh paint
