Lack of power

Post by mark1967 »

Van has a DF engine fitted.Instead of the PICT carb it has a Pierburg.Upto about a quarter revs it pulls ok.Anything more than a quarter revs makes no difference to the speed :( Changed plugs, plug leads, dizzy cap and rotor.Coil resistances are within spec checked all fuel filters and can`t find any vacuum leaks.Need to check the timing next but can`t find anything other than settings/instructions for DG and DH.All the guides I`ve seen mention different timing marks on double crank pulleys but mine only has the one mark (only one pulley too)Anyone got a how to guide ? Its no fun being overtaken by bays on hills
Thanks
Mark

Mark, make sure (on the pierburg ) that the second choke spindle and diapragm isn't either siezed up or inoperative in any way,,,,,,,,,,,,,you may have to remove the carb to check this function fully.

Regards

Fritz,,,,,,

PS, find a timing light and check vacuum advance is working as it should< or simply have a huff and puff on the vac tube, coz goosed vac units on the dizzy will lead to similar poor performance levels...
One day you will find me,,
