Quick (probably silly) coolant system question

Post by Cruz »

I have done my first system bleed and then bleed the rad a few times since and I am getting no air bubbles out of the rad now, even on a steep incline.

Can I just ask what is probably a bit of a stupid question but I have not taken much notice of the coolant system before.

My van is a very early 83 and after a good 8 mile run from cold the large feed pipe to the rad is hot but the return pipe is only warm. Is that right? The temp gauge sits merrily on half way.

I know it's probably silly but we've all been a bit timid when doing things on these vans for the first time.

Well if all is running well and the pipe to the rad is hot then it would figure that the rad is there to cool the coolant so return should be warm or not as hot ?
well I reckon so anyway ,http://www.brick-yard.co.uk/forum/bleed ... 29710.html

this is about as good as it gets, love the ref to jacking the house up :rofl

That's what I thought but you never know. After all I did remove a coolant pipe (empty system at the time) because I had forgotten to attach a jubilee clip. Never occurred to me just to open the clip and put it on the pipe
