We got back from a very pleasant 2 nights in the New Forest and the newly fixed van was as good as gold.
One thing that was a little odd though was the leisure battery. I fully charged it up on Thursday night, however upon switching anything on (water pump/internal spot lights etc) the green light would go straight to red and on Zig unit. Now I dunno how old the battery is, but what is the general consensus on how long you should be able to run the water pump and say a spot light for before the battery dies... I would have thought it would be a good few days without charge however I get the impression our battery would last a night at best.
There is nothing else powered from it, the hob and fridge are from the gas bottle and we also have a split charge unit that I (think) is working fine!

Heh heh. You can tell you're from Bromsgove Eatcustard - if in doubt, throw it out - no messin'. Love this Midland approach to fixing things. I agree, if a big hammer won't sort it, get a new one.

Re: ... oh no ...another leisure battery question!
Just had to take the blasted passenger seat out to get the darn thing out, wanted to see if it was a Leisure Battery at all or just a 12V car battery, having finally got it out I find that it has no label on the front, it is plain pesky black all over, however the date stamp on it states 30/11/00 so it is almost 10 years old... definately time for a new one me thinks!
I measure the space to be 305mm wide x by 185mm deep by 175mm high, doesnt seem very big and all the Leisure Batteries I've looked at are gargantuan!
Im wondering if in the future I get the internal bits (Internal Spotlights and Water Pump) rigged up to 240V if possible?
I also wanna rig up a switch to change the stereo to the leisure battery when parked up as per the diagram over on the wiki!

The light system works on voltage, something like 12.5 or above green (full charged) amber if you have one 12.2-12.5 and red anything less than 12.2 OR THERE ABOUTS....
So put a voltmeter across the leisure and measure the voltage with ancillaries turned off then on...see how much the voltage drops by and over how long a period.
You may just have poor connections.

Re: ... oh no ...another leisure battery question!
After ten years I think the test may prove a bit pointless now but a good way to test for sure. I just bought an 85ah leisure from a neighbour for £20. Its a little tall but I figure for £20 I can live with not being able to push passenger seat all the way back. May just move it down inside buddy seat and fit longer cables or extensions.
