Electrical help please....newbie

Post by dela »

Absolutely, totally a beginner!!!!

Just bought my first van and I can't get the plugs to work or the water pump? The cigarette lighter and lights work in the back of the van, so not sure what I need to do. How do you get out the fuses from in the cupboard to check if any need replacing?

T25, Autosleeper 1985 1.9D (if that helps)

Please please help....i'm due to go away for 10 days in her on Friday morning

Many thanks in advance guys/gals

Ann

By plugs, I'm assuming you mean the mains sockets. Apologies if I'm asking the obvious, but are you hooked up to a mains outlet?

If you want to get 240v out of the sockets, you have to put 240v into the hook-up - they won't work from your 12v battery.

Don't worry - plenty of people make the same mistakes. We all have to learn somehow.

I'm assuming that since there is water in the tank you have not resolved the water issue? With the Control Panel on and the tap open can you hear the pump running even if no water appears?

The first and most obvious thing is to check is the fuse below the master switch of the control panel. I think the water system on the Autosleeper is 'primed' ie, the system retains water in it right up to the tap even when not 'running' (unlike an Autohomes where once the pump stops, the unused water runs back into the water tank). With the Control panel master switch 'on' (and a healthy fuse) the system does nothing until the tap is opened which triggers the pump; probably (and this is a guess) via a microswitch in the tap - the more the tap is opened the greater the flow. The pump itself is located behind an easily removed panel at the back of the cupboard below the sink.
