West Wittering campsite recommendations please!

Post by StuM »

Hi All,

We want to visit West Wittering in late August (not the bank holiday). As we're short of holiday, we are only going for a weekend and live about two hours drive from there. So, the plan was shoot down after work on Friday to arrive around 19:30, and stay until Sunday.

I'd decided to go for Nunnington Farm as that looks nice and well located, but for some reason best known only to them :? , they don't take advanced bookings! Not wanting to drive for two hours, only to have to then drive two hours home when we find it to be full, we would like to find an alternative.

Basically, clean & quiet with a shower block and walkable into West Wittering...

Thanks,
Stu

yes it's v annoying they don't take advance bookings, really need to get there before mid afternoon on a friday to secure a spot for the wknd.

There is Scotts Farm that is about 1 mile round the corner that has tons of space, not sure it takes advance bookings but it's fine. It's a bit further to walk to the beach. Don't know any of the other sites.

Thanks DanO.

It's amazing - we've stayed in a tiny campsite in New Zealand a couple of times and they were happy for me to e-mail 6 months in advance to reserve a pitch. Trying to do the same 2 hours from home and they won't let me!

I'll have a look at Scotts Farm, else will scratch West Wittering off my list of places to see. The exhorbitant town parking fees have stopped us going in the past, so was hoping now we have a van to get there! :x

Cheers,
Stu

Just for the benefit of anyone else reading this, Scotts don't take bookings either. Bizarre.

Stu, Scotts Farm is massive so you wont (shouldn't ;) ) have a problem finding space.

Scotts is huge and I bet you will be fine but I'd keep it as a backup rather than your first choice.

I got to nunnington around 4ish on a Saturday arvo and they had one space left but I was with a mate in their van so we moved on to Scotts which was fine if a little "boring" ie: you felt like you were on a footy pitch with a bog block 500m away.

Have fun!

Hi there,

This is our neck of the woods but as we tend to camp a bit further afield I'm afraid I cant recommend a site from experience. I know the lady that runs stubcroft farm though and have heard it's very nice, if you take a fire pit they will even let you have a fire which is always a bonus! It isn't in west wittering but in east wittering which isnt far at all and they do take bookings but book up quickly. Personally we like to take the camper with us anyway when we go to West Wittering beach as you can plot up right next to the dunes that lead to the beach, plus its quite a walk even from the nearest camp site I think.

If you do go you will literally drive past our house too so feel free to pop in for a cuppa! :D

We went to that Scots farm once, full of chavs hanging round the bogs all night shouting and swearing, spitting etc. Loads of old blokes who want to look like Elvis too swigging cider most of the day being offensive to the eye. We wont be rushing back their.

Cheers Jed - I'd rather camp on my driveway than go somewhere like that, so well worth knowing!
