2WD - 4WD
Hi, this has probably been asked before, but i've using the van to go shooting kipping over in Westmorland etc and although the van fares alreet on the tarmac it struggles on the fields and off road tracks and fields on a slope are a definite no, is it possible to make it 4WD....?

Theoretically yes, if you find a Syncro to scavenge and are somewhat handy mechanically.
In practise it will be easier to source a working Syncro in the first place

Re: 2WD - 4WD
I did hear say about someone actually converting 2WD to 4WD but it was one hell of a lot of work. Not just a case of stripping the syncro bits and fitting to the van - there's a lot of welding and stuff like that involved apparently. Easier just to buy one.

See David Pickles birth of syncro thread in syncro and on brickyard
not a lot of welding but some
there's a couple of breakers out there at the mo for the parts but you'd have to be real attached to the van you've got and it be basicallly great to bother otherwise just buy a syncro that suits your needs and pocket

Still things you can do to a 2wd for the rough stuff, Fit the appropriate tyres even a 4x4 will lose grip with road tyres. If it is lowered but it back to standard hight to regain axle articulation and if you want to go the whole hog fit a limited slip diff from someone like Quaife Engineering.
