Hello all,
Am changing the oil in the wasserboxer, and when I went to the motor factors with the oil filter they hadn't got the correct one. Its a MANN 719/12
They do however have a Mann 719/5 which is identical in size and thread, but wheras the 719/12 has a relief valve at the bottom of the filter, the 719/5 has it near the thread.
Is this a critical difference? or can I go ahead and use the 719/5?
Also, why does a Volkswagen engine have a UNC filter thread? I would have expected a metric.

Re: T25 oil filter 1.9 petrol query
Anyone?
I fitted the w719/5 and went for a spin. Oil pressure light went out anyway, and all seems fine. Will get the proper one and have it for the next change.
Was a bit dismayed to find tnat while the Mann branded filet I removed (fitted in Germany) was "MADE IN GERMANY" the new one was made in China.

Mine from GSF is a Mann 719/12.
I understand the valve business is a non-return to keep filter primed with oil = Virtually instant oil pressure when starting.
Others know more about this than I !!
