hi there.ive got a 1983 van with 1.9 petrol inj engine.It is running a bit rich i think,as i can smell petrol from exhaust.Can it be tuned at garage with the computers thy have in garages.ive got a bosch garage near me that does tune ups and diagnostic checks.

It's sometimes agood idea to have the igniton system fully checked out by engine diagnostics equipment. At the same time an approximate idea of the overall carberretion can be had, and idle emissions, from a gas analyser.

If you do, make sure the garage know these vehicles well, try to get a recommendation for a garage that has mechanics experienced on VW wasserboxers like yours.

Of course, the first thing you should check if it's running rich, is that the air filter is not dirt/blocked
