Axle stand positions

Post by albertramsbottom »

Hi

I am trying to jack up the front of me bus and I cant work out where I should put me axle stands. Bearing in mind they are not the biggest ones (Draper). I have tried the inside of the jacking point but they just are not long enough. And the suspension gubbins is naturally at an angle once the van is off the floor as they are drooping down.

Any ideas

Cheers

front to back chassis rail at the inner end of the front outriggers, ie 18" in from the jacking points

So you mean 18" in from the side towards the centre line form back to front. Just inside in suspension gubbins (outriggers)? :)

outriggers are the two vertical panels coming from the middle of the van to the bottom of the b pillar (back of door pillar) and yes inboard towards the centre of the van, there are front to back 2" wide chassis rails and as long as your stands have enough width to fit them in the saddle then this is the place to put the stands, make sure vehicle is choked and push it around a lot to check before going under
