Rubber mounted windows...removal?

Post by kiwirob »

Hi All
I have an EMC conversion and the windows are bubbling around the corners and ugly red rust appearing and not looking nice.
I have taken out the outer locking strip (the one in the middle) and inside the van is a push on trim and when removed exposes a double skin wall ( in the sliding door anyway..I haven't checked the others but they seem the same). Inside bare metal (where the trim is removed) and the outer (where the window is encased in the rubber mount- with the locking strip removed). Unable to shift...no real force used..yet.
Question: How do I get the window out to repair rust spots around the frame?
It seems as though the inner side of the rubber mounting is quite deep into the outside skin...and I don't want to break the glass!
The rubber is in good condition and I don't want to have to replace if I can get away with it.
Any suggestions out there?
Cheers

search my posts you'll see I've just spent 6 months welding on my van all windows came out and the side ones more than once!! Im a mechanic by trade and have fitted that many windows I've lost count there just a bit stuck into the seal with all the cak thats works its way into the seal, you can ease the seal over the edge with a bit of wood ( tho I use some plastic tools that i have)
