Seemingly Random Gearbox Problem

Post by T2Andy »

This seems to be random but maybe not.

Having problem where sometimes I can't get the van into 1st or reverse, can pull away in 2nd and then it will work again. Sometimes it won't go in, then clutch up and down give it a rev and then it will. Happens when hot or cold.

1.6TD 5 Speed.

Any ideas?

Had allmost the same problem with mine ended up putting it on ramps, loosening the clamp on the bar that run's from the gear stick to the box and after marking the bar seperate it and move it one spline....this will make it better or worse....if better keep moving one spline at a time until fault is resolved or if worse move one spline the other way.
Took me and my bro about 1.5 hrs of messing about until she was right.....move a spline tighten up the clamp...test....undo clamp....move a spline ...etc,etc.

Good luck... :D
No love I've not bought any more c**p off e-bay!!
