Head gasket probably. Has it been bled so water comes out of radiator?

pressure in the header can only be a couple of things. I'm inclined to go for HG. Doesn't help but it's not such a big job. I got a gasket for approx 40quid. head skimmed another 40, labour? self! and if you do have head skimmed remember to buy a gasket with two holes, possibly three. I learned that the hard way.

What engine?? (IIRC you have a 1.9 DG petrol...)

If wbx (petrol) then cant skim heads, (not in the traditional sense)

BUT... 3 months on a recon engine... WARRANTY???

If the pressure cap is a know good quality one (available from Brickwerks) , thermostat good and working (no silly temps showing??) then its prob a head seal problem or poss a cracked head if its been reworked and machined too much...

VW sponges or general monkeys? What did the engine come out of? Was it a running vehicle or not? Was it tested? Too many sharks take us van lovers for granted.
