MOT corosion on bodywork failiure

Post by MattyG »

hi

last year I had a rust section on the rear arch that was slightly sticking out which (among other things) caused it to fail. the Garage whacked some gaffer tape on it and passed it.
that section is now nicely fixed and finished but I have the same problem this year due to someone hitting me recently but will be going to a different test station.
Does anyone know if Gaffer tape is the 'internationally approved' manner of bodging it to get through an MOT or will some test centres laugh, pull it off and fail me!!??

Cheers
matt

as long as there is no sharp edges its pass! I had a good few cars covered in the stuff and they cant fail it as long as not near seatbelt mount or suspension !

Hi Matt as far as i know if you have a sharp edge on body work its a MOT fail ,so if you put tape on it its going to be ok mate.
