espacer heater

having just brought our first camper we thought we would take the kids on there first trip to the back of the isle of wight when we arrived me and the better half started to check out the inside ie the fridge cooker ect when it came to the heater we did not have a clue as how to turn it on any idears anyone we presumed we could do it on hook up.

hi,
you are going to have to give us a few more details about this heater,ideally some pictures.
also check out the Wiki, there are several files in the downloads section for heaters too

hi thanks for your reply , the van is a 1985 transporter high top , having trouble getting photos on here but will try to suss it out , on the wall is a thermostat with a switch but tried it on hook up and nothing happened , would be grateful for any help about how it works previous owner never used it , cheers , mike .

have you tried switching the heater on when the engine is running??
is there a name and model on the heater?

sorry i havant got back to you its been a bit crazy at work there is not a name just a box with a thermo and a switch on it forgive my nievity but you said trying to put it on when in gear are we talking about the normal van heater or the camping heater sorry again for being stupid but im really new to all this many thanks mike

No Steve means try switching on the 'central' heating with the engine running, all of them will switch off if there's a low voltage situation. In theory your battery should have better voltage with the engine running :wink:
