Knowledgble ones!
I have owned my van for over 4 years now and have always thought it is a 2.1l, thats what the garage i bought it from said. Until now I am replacing the exhaust manifolds and have not been able to locate the same parts as i've stripped off.
It is a US import and after checking Vanagon website have finally located the part...but it is listed as 1.9l exhaust system and differs from the 2.1l exhaust manifolds I have bought already from fleabay!
Any tips on working out the actual engine size. Will the exhaust that I've bought fit?
Tanks in advance!
How to identify 2.1l or 1.9l engine????!!!!

Hi
I think I know the fleabay parts you got - I was looking at them too but knew I have a 1.9DG.
Have a look at this:

I looks like the later 1.9 and 2.1 waterboxers use the same time of manifolds.

the zorsts are interchangeable, but chances are you have some of the emmision control stuff on yours if its a US model.
whe you find the engine number, my money is its a DH which is a 1.9 injection.

Yep, looks like they should be interchangable! The only part I rescued was the manifold with the emmissions control parts on!!! And this part does not match the exhaust manifold I got my hands on! This is the part I've kept from old(with a whole lotta welding)! http://www.vanagain.com/images/025251147d.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
My new question would be, can I do without the emmissions do-dah part connected? Or could I use the manifold that matches the rest of the new exhaust system I have bought?
