If youve read my previous posts youll realise Ive had kanagroo petrol. I got a friendly if not very experianced in T25's mechanic to have a look and he found a load of crap in the carb which he thinks was blocking the jets. He fitted a new in line filter under the van. Put it back together and all was fine and dandy until............it started to happen again.
Took the carb apart again and there was more crap in there. The bits can best be described a very very small ginger nut biscuit crumbs (no I wasnt eating one at the time although I am partial to the odd one). We removed the fuel filter and there was very little crap in there. Not wishing to repeat the whole process again I was wondering if anyone had any ideas what the crap could be?
Im thinking of replacing the fuel pipes from filter to the carb using standard braided fuel pipe?
you probably disturbed a load more crap when changing the filter. maybe worth removing the fuel pipe at the carb and turning over the engine whilst catching the resultant fuel in a glass jar and see what comes out as there will be residual flakes of rust in there.
also remove the fuel pump dry out and blow some air through to flush out any crap deposited in there, it all collects here as the pump is at a low point in the system.
your ginner biscuit stuff is probably rust etc as the tank is made of steel and you wouldnt beleive how much water ends up in fuel nowadays which rusts the tank insides
'ginger nut crumbs'! I like that description!!
I had exactly same thing with an outboard engine, even though it was only six months old.... reason was, I forgot to drain the carb when I stored engine in a drying room, and the 'crumbs' were actually crystallised muck form from the petrol residue... hell of a job to dismantle and clean it all, but suceeded in the end.
My guess is you have petrol crud in there

well your pipes are going to be a minimum of 20 years old so are nearing the end of life. Sensible to replace if ever i do any work to them i just replace them to be sure. I ve seen to many campers burn't out after fuel pipe issues. Just remember to buy good quality fuel pipe clips not jubilee clips.
I buy mine locally from going spare in Littlehampton if that helps.

Well, taken some advice and replaced the fuel pipe that goes from the filter through to the pump. Replaced the filter. Took the fuel pump off and empied it (as best I could). Replaced the pipe from the fuel pump to the carb. (Took about 2 hours and Im no mechanic believe me) Took the carb off and took as much of the small particles out of the chamber. Put it all back together and took it out on a test run.
So far, so good. Lets see how long it lasts !
The one thing I havent done was replace the fuel return pipe as I figured if there was any crap going back it would be filtered out on the way back by the new fuel filter.
