Speedo is working, odometer has stoped working
Took it apart and all looks fine, no broken cogs etc
any other ideas?

Have another look. The odometer is a direct drive of the speedo input shaft, if that is turning then something is wrong with the gears or drive pegs. If it has a trip meter has the knob jamed in.

Also worth checking the speedo cable it's self. Check that it is still properly conected at the front nearside wheel hub (the square end of the cable is held in with a circlip to the center hub cover) as the can be knocked quite easily...

its a common problem for the spindle to spin inside the cog centers, which normally only needs a tiny spot of superglue to cure.

Red cog that runs on worm gear is usually the problem, f ix it with araldite rapid not super glue.
Araldite is a much better and long lasting bond.

Above explanations are still valid and correct. The cog is drifting along the shaft and is a common fault. It may look as though all is fine (and will sometimes appear to fix itself) but you need to look more closely at the mechanics involved in the odometer and stop the loose cog from moving or it will happen again.

Its not easy to see it. I had the speedo on my lap for ages before I figured what was moving.

I think I have sorted it (again)
The green cog (next to the white, worm cog) was not sitting on correct, so I pushed it back down as far as it would go and its working fine now.

The gear is in solid, as I tried to take it off, but the shaft moved
