Which diesel engine will fit my T25.

hi all. im looking at replacing my old diesel 1.7 engine from my T25 for something with abit more poke.

Im looking at another diesel? for better MPG.

which engine will fit straight in and what model/year is best. passat, golf, scoda etc?

any information would be appricated.

I doubt youll get better MPG unless you go for a 1.6na!

My 1.7 used to give me great MPG - better than a 1Y or AAZ.

If money is an important factor, then i'd stay with what you have unless the 1.7 is completely broken. There is a performance boost going for a 1Y (and a nice one going to a aaz) but IMHO its not worth spending the cash unless you really need to.

However, if cash isnt an issue, then slap a TDI in with a reconed/re-geared gearbox in!

My AEF powered van averages around 35mpg! More poke than my old JX too! I'm well chuffed with it.
