I've done a search, but cant find this one.
I've been trying to sort my new van for its mot.
The rear shift rod falls off the guide pin on the gearbox when I try to change gear.
On closer inspection, the rubber bellows and guide pin are missing and the previous owners have wrapped the guide pin in insulation tape!
I know that I can replace these bits but dont think it will stop the shift rod falling off.
The gear selector at the front is lined up and the box housing is in place.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Re: Gearchange woes
Thanks for replying so swiftly.
To my embarrasment, I forgot to mention that the van is an Aircooled 2.0.
Do you think that the problem is with worn bushes/linkages or is there something that stops the guide pin falling out?
Thanks for the help so far.
