woo hoo, no more dodgy autohomes bed!

Post by lloydy »

At last! After putting up with a busted bed for 7 months, with all 3 section at different levels, I have finally got my act together and replaced it.
New 18mm ply, instead of 12mm, should stop it splitting

Now just to choose new material for the foam

Ha, purchased it like that, so i don't want to think about it either!
All the fixings had ripped out, and someone screwed them back in in a slightly different position. So nothing quite lined up, which then led to the ply splitting in half

Hi Lloydy
Mine is bad too. Bloody fixings are knackered. I think yours looks great. Where did you purchase yours from? How much?

Wow long time no hear!
I just bought a sheet of 18mm ply, and a sheet of 12mm ply. Stripped out the old bed and fixings and replaced everything, i reused the old fixings as they weren't broke. It was the wood they were screwed into that was split. I used the old wood as templates, even for the fixing locations, just drilled thru' old holes into new ply. All fitted perfectly. I'm reusing the foam as this is all ok, they go in to be recovered on sat, and will pick them up after my hols. You can see it in the flesh at Ems meet up your way.
Did it all in about 2 hours, cost about £60 i think

Hey lloydy, where did you get the seat covered and how much was it? Did you co-ordinate this cover with the front two seats?

Cheers.

Hi, got them done at a place within walking distance of where i live. Cost was about £240, which seemed good compared to other places.
Didn't get the front seats done, kinda prefer it to be different, plus where do you stop? door cards, carpet, wall covering ect.
Only other thing that will be matched is the curtains.
Cheers, Lloyd

The vague plan is to get one next year, would have to sell mine first. You never know might stick a note on my van at vanfest, tho' the wife will probably rip it up!
