Best Insurance for Syncro

Morning All

Time to get a couple of quotes for my 87 high top 2.1ltr petrol camper converted syncro.

Who are we all using? Any people to avoid?

I used JK for my Bay and was going to see if they would do me a double discount (probably not) but worth a go I thought.

Adrian Flux seems pretty good. Used him for a few years, and seems cheap.

If you want agreed value make sure you check it is included in the policy. Adrian Flux screwed me over on that one. Won't use them again.

I've got the fleet on a specialist collector's policy from Footman James. Unlimited mileage shared across the 4, one very modded camper, syncro, Velle and the SA. Agreed value when I get some good pics and a valuations from a mate in the trade. All for about 650 - less than it costs to cover the missus '99 Sharan - which will be going at the next breakage.
If you're after offroad - specific insurance it will get expensive.

I'm with Adrian Flux too. They seem Ok but seem fairly tight on their agreed values. If you do go with them I'd be interested to hear what they agree (I got £5K for a RHD panel van DIY camper conversion with pretty mint bodywork). They're pretty good on mods though - I left Footman James as their policy almost doubled when I went from original to AAZ!

Went to Glynwood for my doka as I was struggling to get the doka covered by the usual providers (JK, Flux) as they weren't keen on classifying it as a classic VW. Liked Glynwood because they provide a personal and enthusiastic service. With the big insurers, you can struggle to get someone on your side if you make a claim.

Have dealt with Flux on and off for a number of years. Found their service and price varies a lot depending who you talk to there.

Talking to Glynwood recently, I was told that their standard rates have increased to around £200-£250 for a T25 on a classic VW policy, but they do give a discount on multi-vehicle policies.

My limited mileage campers have been insured through Pladdys Mansfield Rowe for many years. Rates have always been excellent and so is the personal service.

Glynwood = £388


I think I might go with Glynwood although they are more expensive, the fella on the phone knew what he was talking about and sugested £15,000 even before I was going to say £15,000 and how when he was at Vanfest thats what they were going for etc... He also new the engine came out of a Golf too. I feel like I would be getting a more personal service from them.

Glynwood were very good with regaerds to our camper, however they were not competitive when when i just called them about my doka, mainly becouse i need a commershal insurance (as the van is used for work). have not found any one that will give me an agreed value with a commershal policy, they all sceam to go on market value.

I ended up with using JK with a policy through HIC. £280 Fully comp, 5k limited mileage, on my drive with the Mrs on also. The agreed valuation was a little light from what I had hoped, they seem to just offer what the vehicle as purchased for, or this has been the case on my last three vans anyway.
