i just got a kit for my rear gear selector and got this bit left
is it for a different setup or have i missed it out...cant see where it goes in the haynes either

I think this bush fits into the chassis where the rod is supported from front to back.

yeah, two cups bolt together and it fits between them. i think

hmmm...strange..in the wiki it also says this is the center bush too
thats the same as the one i have on the rod under the cup

Yep, you have 2, one at the rear and one forward of the uj in the picky

so the one in the second pic is actually the rear bush not the one that goes in the center forwards of the uj ?

the gears seem fine now but ive only replaced the onion and the bush under the cup...when i get chance ill take the center one to bits and see if its the right bit i have.....thanks chaps

early w/c set up is two of the hollow clear bushes filled with polygrease, late set up is one of them in the chassis and the rifled hard nylon bush at the rear supported and sandwidged by two concertinaed rubber boots to keep the crap out, VW found that without shields that clear bush tends to get dirty and wear giving sloppy selection, in the chassis it's less prone to such wear.
