my water cooled turbo

Post by dazzerT251900td »

I reckon my turbo is also water cooled, there is another water pipe going over the top of my fly wheel housing. And i think there is a water pump built in-line on this pipe,Is this right can any one tell me please.this turbo came off my 16td and now is on my aaz engine.this pump as two wires coming out of the back of it,i am sure its a pump, looks like it runs off a sensor on the turbo, looks like a temperature sender.can anyone shed any light on this.thankyou :ok daz

The JX Turbo is not water cooled however the 1.6 TD has an auxiliary water pump which continues to push water around the engine when it is turned off. It is triggered by one of the temp sensors (the other one is for the temp gauge) in the water outlet housing on the end of the cylinder head.

Alternatively, you may have had a Charge Cooler fitted which is making use of the pump? This would be an after-market modification though.

the extra water pump is to cool the engine down when you switch off, does nothing for the turbo
