why should the bump stops be cut down when lowering a van? I lowered my van 50mm all round BUT do get a knocking sounds when going over bumps, it does sound like its coming from front and back of van, is this suspension trouble already or a classic case why bump stops should be trimmed? What are the typical problems of not trimming them?
Thanks

Re: why trim bump stops when lowering
If you don't trim them, when lowered all the van will do is sit on the bumpstops, the bumpstop becomes your suspension, not your spring.
Depends on what your "van" is though, if it is a Van, or a pick up with will have 5 rib bumpstops, they need chopping.
if yours is a van that left the factory (as opposed to a cheap delivery van someone put windows and a camping interior in) as a van, or a pick up you will need to chop them down to 3 visible ribs.
If on the otherhand it left the factory as a vehicle designed to carry passengers in the rear (Bus, Combi, Caravelle, Westy) then it will already have 3 rib bumpstops and nothing more needs doing.
Details I think are on the Brickwerks facebook page in the "photos" section, have a look in "workshop" folder, lots of interesting pictures in there.
