1.9d na gearbox question + fuel pump

Post by BLUG »

hi, im gonna be picking up a 1.9 non turbo engine to replace my 1.6d, can i use the 1.6d injection pump, as the new engine does not have one, also the gearbox in m,y van is an ABF code, would this be a suitable box for the new engine? i have a very low mileage 6 rib box from a 1600 petrol bay,im wondering if this would be better.

any ideas guys??

ABF is the slowest gearbox, so won't be quick no matter what engine you fit, and the Aircooled 1.6 boxes are barely any quicker so depends what you want, but I'd say a 1.9 petrol 4 speed ABD would be a better bet swap the input shaft and bellhousing over but otherwise your linkage/gearstick etc stay the same, going for the Aircooled box requires a fair bit of work

I have a refurbished ABD in for sale, which could be supplied in diesel fitment if required
