oil leek out of the dipstick

i have a t25 diesel and have had a 1.9 polo engine put in it. This was pressure tested before it was put in, now my problem is that some oil comes out of the end of the dipstick tube and no matter what rubber gromits i put on it i cant stop it (this is on the dipstick itself as oil is coming all the way down the tube, not where the tube goes into the body).

now some people say this is a common problem others say there is to much pressure in the engine can anyone tell me what the answer is to this issue please.

there is a possibility of over filling and/or crancase breather blockage

the breathers have been checked and are all clear and it is not over filled as it has beed constant problem for a good few months and tried it with different amounts of oil in

As Kev says, assuming correct dipstick etc then thats the easy on the pocket scenario, best we dont extrapolate further eh

1 minute late.. have you ran it with a breather hose off to see whats coming out?

no i have not done that what problems will that show or rule out?

Well as you probably know you, simplified description ..as pistons do what they should do and go up and down a certain ammount of pressure is created in the crankcase, add to this a given ammount of piston blow-by and you have positive crank pressure which is relieved to a certain degree by the breather hoses into rocker cover etc,
by running your engine and then removing a breather hose, see if you have fumes /oil/crap you name it blasting out of the hose , rev the engine and see what difference this makes and let us know

i took the breather off from the crank case to the rocker cover and rev'ed it up nothing came out then i took the oil filler cap off while it was still running and got hit in the face with oil. any ideas?

Hmmm,

Dont want to be the bearer of bad news but it seems like you have a slightly worn engine.

Is there much oil around the oil filler area ? Another clue is to pop the air cleaner pipe and filter out, If this is fairly oily then basically the engine is tired (Worn Bores, Guides, Rings etc )

would that problem not have shown up when the engine was pressure tested before it was put in though. could it be anything to do with the oil pump?

Do you mean the cooling system was pressure tested ? if so then no.....has no bearing on that side of things im afraid...

not sure had the engine put in last year because i had the same problem with the oringinal engine and they said it was pressure tested befor it was put in i dont know fully what they ment. it took me a while to sort out oil leeks as i had one or two others now they are done i still have the same problem.

when the engine in my t25 is a 1.9 polo engine but the rest such as the sump is the standard 1.6 from the t25 does anyone know if this would have any effect on oil being pushed out or have any effect? i understand that it is likely to be the pistons but tring to rule everything out first
