JK antifreeze
Is buying anti freeze from Just Kampers a silly idea - it gets rather pricey for a full drain down, is there equally as good stuff available without too much faff from somewhere else but cheaper?

Re: JK antifreeze
your choice of antifreeze is more important if you have a petrol engine.i buy the vw g12 for mine.costs a bit,but i dont mind.

Yes G12+ is expensive but it's worth it for piece of mind.
Of course you can use the cheaper stuff but make sure it's changed every 2 years at the very most.

Has spoken by a bloke(Baxter) who's seen many many times the results of WBX owners not using coolant or not changing it often enough.

There's no 'r' in bought!
Re: JK antifreeze
I would personally buy a decent brand coolant from your local motor factors that will cost way less than G12+ but change it every year/year and a half.
G12+ is all good and well but if you have a leak or need to change a coolant pipe etc then it gets expensive when having to top the G12+ back up again, as I have found out.

Re: JK antifreeze
The Comma Longlife (red) one seems good enough, and phosphate free:
5 Year Longlife Protection.
• Helps prevent winter freezing and summer boil over.
• NAP (Nitrite, Phosphate and Amine), Silicate and Borax free.
• Organic Acid (OAT) Technology.
• May be used in diesel and petrol engines.
• Suitable for a wide range of modern heavy duty diesel engines where a nitrite free coolant is
required e.g. some Scania, DAF and Volvo models.
• Exceeds the requirements of: BS6580 – 1992.
Meets AFNOR NFR 15-601 (except Reserve Alkalinity).
Meets the requirements of Audi/Seat/Skoda/VW (TL774D), Ford
(WSS-M97B44-D), MB (325.3), Porsche.
Mind you, glad they clarified the 'oat' technology. Otherwise I'd have assumed it gave it that ready-brek winter glow.

Re: JK antifreeze
JK antifreeze (febi/Bilstein) Blue is a decent 'old style' antifreeze that needs to be changed every two years. JK say 4 bottles but thats only 6 litres and as the coolant capacity is around 17l you really need over 8 litres to get the near 50/50 mix needed by the wasserboxer engine.
