cylinder head gasket replacement

Post by krynac »

hello,
been out in my 1986 westy joker 1.9 petrol watercooled and noticed a lot of dripping once I pulled up, after further investigation as to whether it was oil or water it turned out to be water coming from the cylinder head gasket on the off side.
Is this an engine out jobby what costs am I likely to expect.
Thanks

Hi do a search there are many threads about this.

I think you can do it in the van but best taking it out, only took a few hours to disconnect everything and take my engine out so probably best doing that.

Anyway do a search and you will see how easy or hard replacing the head seals can be, depending on if the head studs snap or not!
