oil filter for a 1.6td and oil too

Post by charlie brown syndrome »

hi all,

i'm looking to do an oil change on my 1.6td engine,
what filters do people suggest (because ive been having a slight problem with the buzzer of doom and dont want to aggravate the situation)
i have a mann filter which has been left over from a van i previously owned (it is brand new), its a W719/12, it says volkswagen on it but dont know whether its the right one or not.
can anyone advise please?
i'm going to use a 15/40w oil too, which is up to vw 502.00 and 505.00 aswell as a few other manufacturers, will this be ok?

cheers

The oil is ok, personally I use 10W40 but 15W40 will do also.

The filter most likely isn't ...I can't remember the exact number, but I'm pretty certain it wasn't the one you mentioned. A good motor factors will be able to look it up and most likely also have it in stock. Mann is a good brand

cheers mate, they are only down the road from my moms too,
ive got to admit ive used them once before in the past and thye were very expensive on the item i wanted so didnt go in there again,
but that seems reasonable,
ive got a filter from elsewhere now and ive done the oil flush/change
