They look like early SA "big window" pepperpots to me, which were 6 x 15"...later ones were 6.5 x 15" starfish (centrecap) and finally the 5-spoke mags which are a bit fugly IMHO...
Somebody check vw pix and prove me wrong before I go out to buy a new anorak...

Pepper pots or better known as bullet hole alloys were, are 14 inch even in SA. The Big window busses that had these fitted were 2.5i with standard size disks.
The 2 latter stile alloys are 15inch to accommodate the vented discs fitted to the 2.3 and 2.6 models.

Of course they were ...so what are those on that syncro prototype? There looks like a gap/join between the wheel centre and rim. I can't read the tyre to check the size but the rim does look quite deep section...are they the same as the wheels fitted to the B32 Carrerabus? That had "holey" alloys.

The B32 ran 6Jx14" Atiwe Pepperpots as denoted in the top right corner of this spec sheet.

The Magma used what seems to be a 235/65VR15 tyre, not sue of the wheel width though

Those are definitely 235/60/15" Goodyear NCT VR60's on my monitor. No question.
Reading that B32 spec sheet (bit fuzzy - sweaty, shaking hands? ), below the "Serie" spec tyres it lists "M-Wunsch" wheels and tyres on 6 and 7 x 15 Porsche Fuchs...

What does M-Wunsch mean?

Wunsch is german for 'wish' or 'request' i.e optional extras. The M refers to VW options - the 'M Code' denotation we all know and love.

The Porsche 'Fuchs' alloys from the 911 series of vehicles was offered as an option on the B32.

So there were special wheels with the 5x112 drilling or did those buses come with special hubs to take the Porsche 5x130's? Like there's any way of finding out anyway...

Porsche would most likely have had a set of blanks drilled to 5x112 specifically for the B32 - direct from Otto Fuchs Mfg.

It's not a stud pattern they ever used on earlier or subsequent cars but you can buy Fuchs replicas now for your VW in 5x112 from places like Karmann Konnection.

As for the Atiwe Kaselochs - they were a popular wheel in 4x100/4x108 fitment and available from blanks in many sizes and widths from 13"-15" as seen on these Toyota fitments 8.5Jx13":

According to the tristar brochure, the tristar came with alloys as standard. The steel 6" inch rims were a 240 quid option! Why would ya go and spend loads of money on a crappy steel wheel and not get those super alloys? The mind boggles...
