A reg, 1.9DG engine. Ive just bought the van and when starting from cold it will fire up but not keep running till its warmed up. If i take my foot off the accelerator before it warmed a bit it just stops.
Ive looked for a choke to pull but cant see one !, Help ??
how does the choke work, where is it ?

I have no idea where it came from, or what it is, but it's looking right at me.

Re: how does the choke work, where is it ?
your choke is automatically operated by a bi metal spring and a choke pull down unit. located on the side of your carb.
to "set" the choke when cold depress the accelerator fully a couple of times.
this has the effect of setting the fast idle speed for cold starts.
if this fails to keep the engine running, then you must investigate the fast idle mechanism
it consists of a stepped rocker that is controlled by your bi metal spring.
the fast idle throttle stop rests against this stepper.
As the engine warms the stepper rotates until it no longer touches the stop, then the tickover screw stop takes over.

just to add to kevs post if you rev it up and snap the throttle shut when started cold the inrush of air will suck the flaps open and turn the choke off. try as kev says pumping the throttle a couple of times and let it off then start the engine without touching the throttle. if it doesn't fast idle then the choke needs setting up.
