On a recent trip my engine started losing power whilst going up a hill. When I reached the top I pulled over to discover the breather had split on the Turbo advance module on the back of the diesel pump. I trimmed it and put it back on and carried on driving to which it worked fine for another mile or two. Then the drive went all lumpy and really had to crawl up hills in first whilst constatly cutting out. There was only 3 miles left to my destination so I thought I'd struggle there and then while camping I would spend an hour or two looking over the engine and if all else fail, we'd get the AA Home; of which we did.
Today I found the other end of the same breather pipe had come away but when i replaced it and took the van for a drive it drove fine for about 15 minutes, up local steep hills and then up the bypass but on my return and on a flat it started to pull back and stalled after a down hill.
I am wondering if I have damaged the diesel pump by driving it without the advance working?
It could also be the Turbo as it has been leaking a little for the last year and I haven't got around to getting it fixed.
It also appears that I've slightly over filled it with oil
Any thought on this are welcome as I am having to fix her on a shoe string
Cheers,
Hoss

Re: lumpy running and loss of power
The JX LDA can suffer a variety of problems, don't think long term permanent problems would have resulted though
The LDA enriches with boost, not advances timing

Cheers Harryman,
No long term damage, she's back to running sweet now apart from the turbo leaking a bit of oil internally!
I'm a happy camper again!!!!!!
