Why is it so.

Post by slobbo »

Every bloody time I plan a big trip our vehicle of choice causes me grief.
1. Trip to the alps in the Megane. Universal joint - kaboom outside Paris.
2. 2nd trip to the Alps. Handbrake seizes on and by the time we got it sorted we had missed our ferry and had to drive to Dover from Scotland to cross instead of Newcastle. Lost a day on that one.
3. Trip to the Hebrides. Syncro getting TDI'd at Syncronutz, pump delayed so trip delayed then injector blowing when on the road. Stupid here snapped the injector bolt. Chap at the garage on Skye fixed it in about 10 minutes (as well as the blowing injector).
4. On the way to Vanfest last year, got to Blackpool and water temperature sensor gave up so ran like a bag of spanners. Got it sorted whilst at work so didn't miss Vanfest thankfully.

Now after just sorting out a throttle position sensor problem and redesigning my air intake. All packed and ready to do a trip doon south, engine running sweet as a nut and the gearbox implodes. Sounds like the syncros have or are breaking up. Now we are forced to take the Toyota Corolla Verso which is boring and gives me a sore back on a long journey and stay in expensive accommodation.

The rub is that for the past 12 months I have been travelling down to Blackpool from Dunfermline. 220 miles each way every week and have had no problems with 3 different cars that have left me stranded. 2 of those were French cars as well! So why is it that whenever I want to travel for pleasure something breaks. Maybe I should arrange a work thing for when we go away. That way the car will perform faultlessly.
Cheers
Rob.
