And don't tighten the sump plug too much, there seems to be a growing bunch of strong men tearing the threads out of the drain hole.

The bolt is steel the sump is junk ally ....
IF it tightened I'd run it a while and keep an eye on the levels with a view to tapping it out to M16 asap. I'd do it sooner .. i.e. before you go .... but then again I'm chickesiht cos I've been recovered from Belgium and I KNOW how long it takes to get home !

Sump plug is as delicate as replacing spark plugs. Both should be refitted using fingers only until you're sure that contact has definately been made and then only very lightly nipped up that last bit.
