Replace whole roof section?

Post by renokey »

Hey lads/ladies

I have a 1985 westy joker high top with really rotten gutters, has anyone attempted to replace the entire roof section from a donor vehicle.

I am worried if i start grinding the existing gutters off i will be faced with big holes in the roof under the high top.

Any sugestions/thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Afraid that sounds like a roof off job even just to asses the rust!

I thought it was only me, My other T25 the guy before cut the whole roof off and fitted a high top, he then welded in some nasty strengthing bars which ran beside your head!!

As you can guess i bought it as a part project.

I managed to find a doner. alone the gutter you drill out the spot welds, at the top of each front and rear pillers you need to cut/chisel the brazing then chisel between the gutter and van.

We done it all in one day with 2 of us.
