ATE Calliper - White plastic sleeve

Post by Yozza »

Ay up,
I'm rebuilding the callipers on a 16" ATE calliper and have got replacement rubbers (cylindrically shaped) which fit into the callipers (the pins which the calliper moves on are mounted through these rubbers. Does anyone know what I mean or is a pic needed?
If yer still with me, then there are what looks like white plastic 'sleeves' within these rubbers (look like they offer very low friction for sliding on the pins).
I'm after a replacement set as mine aren't in great condition. My replacement seal kit came with the rubbers but not the sleeves, anyone know where these can be sourced?

I've taken the white insert out (circled in red). Could it be that the insert is an addition? (Possibly to remove some slop from the black rubber sleeves?)

What is slightly confusing is that there are two types, the pair in the red circle and the other type with the arrow pointing towards the white insert which is definately made to fit within the black rubber sleeve :?

Any takers?

Thanks fellas, rung Mike at the Rochdale branch of Brakes International (the supplier of the kits) and he said that this design of white inner sleeve is now history. All new 'calliper guide boots' (learnt the proper technical term as well) are an 'all in one' boot & guide.
