Turbo Problems

Post by joe75 »

Recently I placed a post on here about lots of smoke on start up. From the post one of probable causes was a duff Turbo. Well after taking it off it turns out the oil seals have failed in the Turbo and it is letting oil past into the inlet manifold.

The turbo is only 17months old (paid500quid for a new unit) and the engine has done less than 15k Km in that time. The turbo company have 24month waurantee but are saying they will not cover the turbo fault as its down to oil contamination. The oil is chaaged at least every 4k KM in the engine and its all in good condition except the turbo. The company (ITS Turbos) want me to pay 250 quid to have it rebuilt.

Has anyone got any views on this. I idealy don't want to pay but I want the van back on the road. As far as I am aware the oil has never been contaminated. As you may guess I am no turbo expert so find it hard to argue with them.

Advice please :ok
