heater blower - only blows hot

the slider control seems to have some resistance to being moved but it only blows hot. Is there likely to be a flap stuck somewhere? (sorry, i don't have a manual for the van just yet so I've no idea what goes on behind the dash)

above your spare wheel is the heater valve, drop the spare out and look up and you can see it
i suspect its become stuck or the cable has jammed.

Had the same problem when I bought mine. Got a new valve from VW Heritage (very cheap), fitted it. Would have been simple if not lying on back under van struggling with limited available pipe stubs from heater! Anyway, got done, no difference. Back off, checked haynes and made sure I had the inlets and outlets correct, it now works, previous owner had reversed pipes. If you follow the diag in Haynes literally it should work. Good luck.

the inner cable has a 'kink' in it. Remove the heater controls cover and look....obvious when you see it. If it's slight kink you can straighten it; if it's not you're going to have to replace. If it's fine. see 'heater valve' post above.

Mine has the same problem. Have pulled the arm you slide off (heater control) & theres nothing attached to it so I presume thats the problem. Can anyone tell me what is the name of the part(cable) that I order. & is just campers the best/cheapest place to order it from. I am rubbish a vehicle repairs. So do you think replacing the cable is something I will be able to manage or is it a dashboard off job & I'd better get someone in the know to do it for me. Don't mind getting my hands dirty

Take your van to a VW commercial dealership and physically show them what you're after - they may still stock them. I wouldn't have thought it's a dash out job but it will be fiddly so another pair of hands would come in useful.

on mine (1982 diesel) if i remove the glove box i can see all 4 wires on the left side , moved each control until 1 didnt respond- tweaked it a bit, now it goes ok

I'm in Deeside North Wales. Managed to have a proper look now & the cable is still there but where the cable attaches to the valve (above the spare wheel) it isnt attached to anything. It looks as though the clip it should be joined to is missing so when I move the slide on the dash its just moving the cable & nothing else. Can you tell me what the thing it should be joined to is called & if i need to order a whole unit
