Croyde camping suggestions please........
Hoping to head to Croyde 2nd week in August and wondered if anyone had any recommendations for a good site as the one I have been to before require a 7 day booking only.
I really only want 3 to 5 nights mid-week for me and my van & awning and an extra car, then just to make it awkward 2 to 3 of those nights an extra tent and car!
Families welcome and basic is all good as long as there's a chem waste or a bog block and a relaxed atmosphere.

Hello,
Does it have to be in Croyde? If not try Lobb Fields, just outside Braunton on the Croyde road. Really nice and helpful people.

Try Mitchums Campsite, the one near the beach. Good surfing location, small field, pretty laid back.
Alternatively, there's always that factory called Ruda, it's nextdoor. Oh, and take cash..no free ATMs in Croyde.

Mitchum's don't take U17s unfortunatley. I used to go to Bay Tree but they want a 7 day booking, nice site tho.
Last time I was there the holiday park had a free ATM but that was 4yrs ago!
Lobb Fields looks good - ta for the link.

We always stay at Cherry Tree Farm campsite.
Ideal location between the beach and the village centre.
No electric hook up,but good toilet/shower blocks.
Highly recommended.

Cherry Tree is nice but pricey!
Based on 3 adults and 3 kids in a camper with an extra car for 4 nights it's £45 per night.
Lobb Fields is a full £10 cheaper because U5s are FoC and kids up to 14 are only £3 p/n.
So far Lobb is top of the list!
Cheers

I agree with Cherry Tree, we had a brilliant time last year, and its almost like a VW meet anyway, as about half the site is VW, whether its beetles, splits, bays, T25's everything is there and only a short walk to either the beach or the village, there's a lovely pub called the Manor.

Re: Croyde camping suggestions please........
I stayed here a couple of nights over the last bank holiday just recently - http://www.hiddenvalleypark.com/ - I didn't have much choice, they were about the only ones with space for a couple of nights with a days notice.
Not the cheapest or that close to the sea, but was very clean, well run and very well looked after. There were kids on the site so they must be ok with them. Nice and quiet at night, so unless you actually want raucous parties into the night, I'd recommend it.
*oh and the electric was included, which I didn't know about beforehand.

I have stayed at Lobb field a few times, Its a nice site with friendly people , I have lots of friends living in Braunton and I think its a more friendly place than Croyde, and the beach at Saunton is much bigger and safer to surf if you arent a expert ! Having said that I will be parking up in Croyde when I go down for a week in August with my little boy, My friend has a small patch of land on the cliffs over looking the bay that I am able to use..... cheaper than the camp site!

Re: Croyde camping suggestions please........
Lucky you!
I think Lobb has the vote and as we've got a selection of kids from 4 to 16 Saunton beach is probably a better bet in terms of boogy boarding.
We;ll already have had a week in Cornwall then I'm taking T on a road trip before the others join us at Croyde.
Fun!!!

Pm Jed.....
we stayed at a basic but cheap site just outside woolacombe It was basic but it was cheap.
When we went into the reception the bloke hurridly hid his can of stella under the counter.
They take the Piiiis around there with prices, it had a shop and showers and they had loads of land so not crammed in..
Sadly I can't remember what it was called though. Jed will probably remember.

Re: Croyde camping suggestions please........
Cherry Tree is a cracking site but sadly prices have rocketed there in the last few years. I used to go there 3-4 times a year to surf at either Saunton or Putsbourgh (which if you havn't been is a fantastic beach). About 20 of us used to meet up at Cherry Tree last bank holiday in may every year but it kind of petered out in the last couple of years (combination of price and ever increasing numbers of kids!). Shame really we'd been doing it since about 1994. My rambling point is Croyde/Saunton/Branscombe/Putsbourgh is just a bloody great place to stay.
