Sites in Brittany

Hi we are planning a 10 day trip over to france in august, we are getting the ferry to le havre and dont really want to spend more than 4 or 5 hrs then driving on to a site so guessing brittany area would be ideal

we are looking for

close to beach
pool complex on site
ideally restaraunt / bat etc
dont mind a lively site but not too important

we have searched a few sites i.e alan rogers etc and have a few sites shortlisted, the only problem is they all look great and its hard to decide which is best

just wondered if anyone has spent their hols in that area and any recommended sites

check out the other post on camping in France as that has some good ideas - I had mentioned Mont St Michael in that - two campsites there, one is an Aire site so you are supposed to stay just one night but theres a bells & whistles one across from it.

If you are coming in at Le Havre you will probably be going over the Pont de Normandie - thats an awesome bridge I love it.

If you have time id recommend a stop at Honfleur just on the other side of the bridge. Pont L'Eveque does the best cheese (if you have a fridge great if not the van will reek!). The Caen Perifique can be a bit of a nightmare when its busy but the bottom part is quieter.

If you want a more interesting journey with stops instead of going right round the perifique and heading to Avranche via Villers Bocage come off early and go via Faliase (Willy the conq castle), Flers and Domfront (lovely little town).

There are a couple of really good sites at a place called Trez Rouz just outside Camaret Sur Mer on the Crozon Peninsular. One has a pool but is very expensive and the other is just across the road from the beach (do brilliant pommes frites too!) and is much cheaper. What do you want a pool for if you have a safe sandy beach???

There is also an excellent sleepy spot just down the road which is tucked away and right on the beach.

Very nice place called Honfleur, just over the Pont de Normandy from Le Havre (about half an hour away).
There is a motorhome park on the dockside, turn right just before you entire the town from pont de N. (all tarmac, no grass, I'm not sure if it has any facilities) but was 7 Euros a night last year. Just 5 minutes walk to the town centre (situated around a picturesque marina/dock).

Alternatively there is a small campsite just outside the town on the coast road to Trouville/Deauville.

A good place to stopover but I think one night is enough to see it.

Brittany is lovely but I would get down over the Loire. Only takes 4-5 hours. From St Jean de monts to Les sables de lonne. Lovely stretch of coast here and warmer weather. Do a search for sites. Plenty to choose from.
