Sliding door wont open from the inside

Post by smudge »

Firstly, apologies if this has been asked before.....

My sliding door has suddenly decided not to open from the inside; although opens perfectly well from the outside. The (interior) handle remains firmly fixed in the vertical position; it won't budge when I try to pull the door open.

Any ideas folks?

Many thanks in advance....

I had this problem a few weeks after i'd bought my van.

Theres a small metal switch in the inside edge of the door beside the catch (the inside that is visible after you open the door) It doesn't look like much but if you flick it you should be able to open the door from the inside.

The previous owners had the van for years and never knew about it so its not uncommon to accidentally flick it.

Hi All

Similar problem to yours,,,,,,, but unless I use the key I have to open the passenger door and raise the latch to open my sliding door from the outside. The sliding button thingy dosnt act like the pop up and down loinerrior lock of the front doors..,

Its all a bit loose and sloppy but looking forward to my first vw meet (bus stop - sussex) to take a look at other t25s and see how others work

Regards

Matt

Hello,

We put up with our sliding door lock not working for years, recently though the exterior handle actually came off altogether, so we were left with no option but to replace the whole unit. I successfully removed the interior handles and interior panel, then undid the screw to release the old handle. I then replaced the exterior handle. When I put it all together again I found that the interior handle has somehow become disconnected, well, it won't open the door! I don't understand how this has happened as I didn't release it from anything in the process.

I have latched onto this topic as I thought it might have automatically set itself onto some sort of childlock, but having checked I can't see one. Can anyone help.....?!

Thank you!
