Gearstick came off in my hand!

Post by NigelM »

As I left the A1 yesterday & geared down to approach the roundabout my gearstick came off in my hand,  I managed to stick it back in & limp home mainly in third as it was obviously a right pig to select gears.
Anyway after a quick inspection it appears to have been welded around the collar & a piece of threaded bar inserted & bent to accommodate.
Below are a few pics showing what I have, my question is what parts do I need to effect a proper repair?

Kind regards,

Nigel M

New replacement stick, courtesy of brickwerks? Or get another stick from a breaker.

I also used the gear lever repair kit last year, improved my shifting slightly with a slightly more accurate feel.. if you feel like treating yourself..

Parts ordered from Simon, read the below on the site as my van is a JX was wondering if anyone else had done this & how involved it is?

"Fitting should take no longer that 20 minutes, really easy DIY job to freshen up your gear change.
Job will take a little longer on JX engined vans as the whole gearlever box assembly has to be removed from the vehicle and the linkage parts replaced on the bench."

Cheers,
