1Y engine has died replace with another 1Y or AAZ?

1Y engine has died replace with another 1Y or AAZ?

Hi folks,

just asking for advice please, i have seen a 1y and an aaz replacement engine. Will it be a lot easier to replace the knackered 1y with another one? or is it similar amount of work to replace the 1y with a aaz out of mk 3 golf. Will i need a conversion kit for both the 1y and aaz engines, or would the 1y slot in where the old one was. Does anybody know of anywhere in the n west that can do the work. I have had a quote from elite, but am reluctant because they'll charge an extra 450 'cos the old engine is knackered, and its right down south.
