Can you get another key cut when the original has been broken in half and use it to cut a new one.
Lent my van to my dad and he managed to break the only key.
He replaced it with one of them spiral push on things and i had a hell of a job getting the spiral out of the filler neck when it decided to part company with the cap.
Anyone got a spare cap and key they want to sell. ? key must match cap though. van is a petrol syncro
Volkswagen have 3 new keys in stock at Milton Keynes, £5.77 +vat, part number 251837219A if you have both halves of the broken key get timpsons to cut the new key following the profile of the old one.
On a similar note (excuse the hijack!) my syncro is all on one key but the filler cap has lost it's lock cover/flap. Anyone got a dead one that I could dismantle for the vital bit? Yes I know this is turning into a wanted thread - should have been there in the first place maybe...?

Assume syncro petrol and syncro diesel are different then.
The cap is the same regardless of type of fuel.
All the locks are the same too.
All locks can be matched to a key (so long as the lock is in a fit state) except the ignition.
We do a fair few, biggest problem at the moment is knackered, worn locks.
I got new keys cut at Abel alarms £5 each including cutting, they had the right blanks on their standard car key board, they were very helpful and the keys work perfectly despite the originals being very worn
