what engine ???????? makes a massive difference to the answer!!
ie stop solenoid on a derv is fitted to the pump, the start solenoid is on the starter motor!

ahhhhh so its a small solenoid fitted to the fip pump with a single wire (normally) to it thats the name it goes by!

Cheers mate. What does fip stand for (as in pump) and is it ONLY refered to as a STOP solonoid?
