asbestos is syncro?
I've been repairing seam rust around the lower left side outer panels above the wheel arches and noticed my syncro has a hard white layer of a plaster type substance under the paint. Going over it with an angle grinder It created a lot of dust. Being as paranoid as I am I got worried it might be a coating of asbestos I was grinding down? Anyone know if asbestos was used in the syncro. I understand it has been found in older vehicles used as a sound deadener aswell as in brake components?

not asbestos, good old filler that, it's had a bump
, no asbestos in the van except maybe some brake pads whatever brake dust is nasty so treat as such
there's a plastic type coating on the wheelarches for uk market and sometimes as option on whole underside, depends where it was built and for what/where/who
