Caravanstore awning on Tin Top

Post by Rockhead_Rumple »

Debating what awning to get, was on the cusp of buying a campershop sun shady but they are out of stock. Temped by the caravanstore awnings but I am unsure what butchery I would have to commit to attach it to my Tintop. Its an early 2 litre a/c

From what i gather I would have to put an awning rail on the van, is this even possible with the tintop? And will it mean cutting holes in my lovely metal roof.

Alternatively is it possible to mount it to the gutter some way (although how secure this would be bombing down the motorway i dont know!)

Help appreciated as I really want an awning before I go to download festival (AC/DC!! ) next week

Cheers

Not a big fan of the easi canopies as I dont like having that extra side boxed in.

Easy job fella....
Aluminium awning rail from any caravan shop or fleabay. Mount it at the highest part of the curve of the side of the roof and the bag just misses the sliding door. When the awnings up just tuck the bag under the centre pole and it's all tucked out of the way!!
Can probably find a pic or two if needed....
I saw AC/DC at the second 'Monsters of Rock' festival...(thats the old time name for download) ...at Donnington...think it was about 1980 and the ticket for the whole day cost me £8.50..cracking show :ok

Holy thread resurrection Robin!

Just about to do the same...how is the awning rail fixed to the van? Hoping to come up with a method that doesn't require me to drill the roof.

And apologies if I'm being thick and the answer is really easy like 'it just clips onto the gutter rail'

If you've got a Fiamma, they charge you £70 odd quid for the two clips that go on the gutter rail. Expensive, but they work perfectly. Not sure about other makes, sorry.
